Astro-knot canvases can be used as a portable guide in your astronomical gazing, framed as a canvas, or token in personal ritual space. Each panel features a beadwork weaving of a constellation; all graph designs are my own as referenced from astronomical maps  

Every painting features in-house made botanical inks that were brewed from locally harvested sumac berries + riverbank grapes so their vibrant tones reflect the landscapes in our community. 

Astro-insights: 

Eridanus, the river: a constellation that can be viewed in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is the sixth largest & also spans furthest from north to south. At the southern end is the star Achernar which translates to “the rivers end” and is notable as one of the flattest stars known!

Bordered by Orion, Cetus, Hydrus, Taurus and others. Featuring the Witches Head Nebula and the second largest known void, the eridanus supervoid.

In Greek mythos, it is a reference to Phaethon who lost control of the sky chariot while taking over the reins from his father Helios. Or alternatively seen as the path of souls. It has been associated with many rivers, including the Nile of Egypt and the Po river of Italy.
